How to spend a great "date night" locally!
Ed, my husband, and I love spending time together. We both have our own hobbies and creative releases but we also love to do things together. It is what makes a great marriage. Ed can schedule his time with what he wants to do and I can do the same with what I want to do. We also know that we have to take the time to spend with one another to maintain our healthy marriage.
With our crazy schedules, we find that “date night” can be at any time we can go and do. Ed noticed on Facebook that our local theater, Love Street Playhouse, added a matinee on Saturday to the line-up. I was all in! We had been to another play, Miss Holmes, in the fall and loved it. I got online to buy tickets.
We started our date with lunch at our favorite local Mexican Restaurant, La Casa Tapatia. Not only is it within walking distance from our house, we have yet to have a bad experience. The service is wonderful. The waitresses and waiters all know the menu very well and can answer questions about the food and the drinks served. They offer daily specials and frequent flier rewards which includes a free meal after 10 visits. Click here to see the menu.
Next we were off to the matinee performance. We had not heard anything about the play so we were going in blind. This theater offers basic snacks and bottled water to drink as you enter. Ed and I always bring in our own water and no one ever says that we can not. The entire seating area only seats 81 people. It is cozy and we have yet to be disappointed in the actors and the show.
The following is the description of the play Enchanted April from their website: “Feeling lost in the shadows of marriage and forgotten in the rush of 1920s post-war society, two London housewives pool their savings to rent a villa in Italy for a ladies-only holiday away, reluctantly recruiting a pair of difficult upper-class women to share the cost and the experience. Together under the Mediterranean sun, the four women clash – and then begin to bond and bloom – until men once again upset the balance.”
After reading the description, I was thinking Ed will not like this show. I was completely wrong! There was laughter, sadness, laughter, sorrow, laughter, love, laughter and deep thoughts! A full spectrum of emotions and the show was completely unexpected. The actors were superb and we would follow them to any show that they perform in.
