Homemade Bath Salts
I went to make my own bath salts that did not have all of the chemicals in it that the store brands were selling. Have you ever read the back label of bath salts or seen the cost?
Look on Amazon.com at AHAVA Pure Dead Sea Salt ingredients: Maris Sal (Dead Sea Salt), Parfum (Fragrance), Bis-PEG-18, Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool, Dipentene. I am not sure exactly what all these ingredients are to tell you the truth. On the AHAVA website the ingredients only say Dead Sea Salt. I can not explain it. The cost for 5lb of AHAVA is $20.97. WOW!
I went to Walmart and bought Epsom Salt, Coarse Sea Salt, Soap Perfume (essential oil) and Soap Colorant. Total cost: $13.77 and I have enough bath salts to last forever!
You can find recipes for bath salts everywhere on the Internet. I just did a Google Search for "Bath Salt Recipes" and ended up with almost 250,000 results. But this is what I did!
I did half Epsom Salt and half Sea Salt. I added three drops of the essential oil and three drops of the colorant. Put ingredients in a glass bowl and stir it with a metal spoon. If you use plastic or wood, you will forever have the smell or color in your bowl and utensils!
I then put the mixture into a mason jar and put on a lid. If you keep it out of a sealed container, the smell will fade.
