Gray Whales at Depoe Bay, Oregon

Gray Whale Depoe Bay, OregonThe gray whales can be seen the most of all the whales off the Oregon Coast because of the migratory trail they take from Alaska's Bering Sea to Mexico where they breed. They eat in the shallow waters in the inlets and bay areas of the coast. I saw my first whale ever on the coast when my husband and I were driving down Hwy.101 enjoying the ocean views.

Multnomah Falls

Multomah FallsMultnomah Falls is a breathtaking water falls located along I-5 east of Portland, Oregon. Believe it or not you can visit the falls without leaving Interstate 84. Because this falls is the most visited falls along I-84, you can park and cross under the interstate to reach the lodge and walk up and explore.

The Multnomah Falls Lodge has a gift shop on the first floor but the reason why I visit is for the breakfast! My husband and I have had breakfast many times in all seasons. The falls is just a short 45 minute drive from our home. Not only does the falls provide us with a wonderful view, the lodge cooks a wonderful meal. You can see the menu by clicking here

I suggest that if you are going to attempt to walk to the top of the falls that you make sure that you pack bottled water. Although it is only 1.1 mile to the top, it is a 600 ft high climb! It has several switchbacks with a paved trail to help with the climb but it is just that.... a climb!
