Yesterday was a great day. Ed and I took off for an autumn drive. We drove to the “Autumn on the River” in Bethlehem, Indiana. It was a quaint festival in a small town. We enjoyed the fall foliage and friendly people. Although we did not purchase anything, we enjoyed the scenery by the river.
After a short visit, we drove toward Madison, Indiana. The drive was a nice trek down the back roads that lined the river. Fall is beautiful in Southern Indiana and Hanover College campus was full of colors. Please visit Ed's uploaded pictures on Flickr.com
We drove on to downtown Madison where we enjoyed lunch at Chez Danielle French Bistro. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised at the wonderful lunch. I ordered a Reuben served with bowtie pasta. The sandwich was quite large in size served on toasted rye bread. The Italian pastrami was thinly sliced and melted in my mouth. Great sandwich that hit the spot! I have to say that I am not exactly sure of the mixture of spices that was used in the pasta but it was great. I could have eaten it as a meal by itself.
The entire restaurant was a delightful break. Edward Roszczynski, culinary chef, made a personal appearance at our table just to make sure that we were satisfied with our meal. He frequented every table talking about wine and the meal. I felt as if I was in France because of his dedication and the atmosphere of the establishment. I have to whole-heartedly recommend this restaurant. We enjoyed our visit and greatly appreciated the staff. We left the table completely satisfied and would have paid more than the $20 we spent for our meal.
